Originally a Gofodwyr Ar Goll song written some time in early-mid 2019, so the riff and original idea is actually by Tomos Edwards (Vox/Guitar of Gofodwyr), but he said we can have it once he heard the direction Dom initially wanted to take it in. Since then, as the chorus says, only the name and the riff haven't changed! Speaking of which, the name is based on how the name the band had before Gofodwyr ar Goll (and before that; Façade) was WE ARE HOLOGRAMS, and how the song was initially pretty jazzy.
lyrics
i searched my mind in search of missing parts
holograms seen from the start, strung out again
remember how you thought i couldn't speak at all
is that three years from christmas - i can't recall
only the name and the riff haven't changed
i know it's a nuisance
it's all in the name of change
i know it's a nuisance
only the name and the riff haven't changed
you know that's my mistake
it's all in the name of change
i know it's a nuisance
i saw through eyes that saw my atheist nights
held up by a string of light, strung out again
remember how you said you'd never let me go
is that four days off january or seven years ago?
only the name and the riff haven't changed
i know it's a nuisance
it's all in the name of change
i know it's a nuisance
only the name and the riff haven't changed
you know that's my mistake
it's all in the name of change
i know it's a nuisance
if you come in cause we're not there
take a listen to our holographic jazz
if your fortune's guided come and have a seat
or take it to the bloodbourne lover
only the name and the riff haven't changed
i know it's a nuisance
it's all in the name of change
i know it's a nuisance
only the name and the riff haven't changed
you know that's my mistake
it's all in the name of change
i know it's a nuisance
oi
-so for the drone how exactly do you want it to sound, do you want it to be like a bass-y drone or what?
-well, yeah kind of, i mean it's gonna want to be kind of ominous i feel like
-yeah so we can have it kinda like spaced out, and then
-not as ominous as like the one in mushroom cloud but like something along those lines
-oh actually shall we double it up and pan it to different ears?
-yeah that would make sense, probably
-yeah okay, yeah i feel like that would be a good idea
-and once we've done that then we've pretty much got the song done then, haven't we?
-exactly, and then should we just stop the drum machine then?
-yeah, the drum machine can stop
overall, fucking brilliant song i've gotta say
